Fellow Makerbot owner and operator Adam Brandejs has successfully "kickstarted" (actually Indiegogo'ed) a nice looking 3D scanner based on laser-line/camera photogrammetry.
It looks like a really nicely designed scanner, and it has plenty of industrial design goodness to make it even more worth owning. We signed backed the project in the first few days after its initial announcement -- since then, it has gone on to raise CAN$450,000+. Great job, Adam and Drew! We're looking forward to our scanner!
