High Lubricity Thermal Barrier Tube MK7 and MK8 (Made in the USA)
This premium thermal barrier tube is based on the highly proven MakerBot MK7/MK8 extruder design, and includes a crucial machining step that is missing from many generic substitute thermal barriers. Made from stainless steel on a high-precision Swiss-style lathe and then specially treated with an electroless nickel plating composite, this thermal barrier tube keeps the hotend thermally separated from the coldend.
The improved lubricity of the composite plating treatment, plus the crucial machining step, improves the flow of filament in the liquid transition zone, and reduces the likelihood of filament jams that occur more frequently on poorly made thermal barrier tubes.
The high hardness from the plating treatment also makes this tube ideal for use with highly abrasive filaments. We strongly recommend this tube when printing with the following products: colorFabb bronzeFill, colorFabb XT CF-20, colorFabb woodFill, colorFabb bambooFill, Glow-in-the-Dark PLA and ABS, GMASS high-density, Proto-Pasta Magnetic Iron, Proto-Pasta Stainless Steel, PVA.
This thermal barrier tube is M6 threaded, and is a direct substitute for fully threaded thermal barrier tubes like the ones found on the MakerBot Replicator 1 and 2. It is also compatible with the MakerBot ThingOMatic MK7 extruder. It is not compatible with the Replicator 2X or Gen5 machines.
